Sandbar is a laid-back, casual, indoor/outdoor, family-orientated venue on The Esplanade. We are located right on the beachfront, under the Chateau Hotel.

Sandbar is like a beach holiday that you can enjoy every day. As soon as you step inside, you’ll feel the laid-back vibe and be greeted by our relaxed and interactive service.

With an unobstructed view of the sea, we like to think it’s the best view on the Gold Coast, a perfect location to enjoy modern, alfresco all-day dining in a relaxed beachside environment.

Fitted out in beachy blue and white, and with floating fish lanterns and an ocean vibe, at Sandbar, it’s all about a relaxed holiday feeling, a place to chill and chat, warmed by the sunshine or cooled by the sea breeze.

We enjoy being part of the wonderful Surfers Paradise community, with locals and visitors dropping in for a sip or a meal at any stage of the day.

We love engaging with our people as they settle in and share stories while enjoying our tempting food and beverage menus.

Among the messages on our simple wooden sign at the front are “Breathe Deep” and “Love Strong” and we endorse those ideas every day.

If we had an official motto, it would be: “Life’s better by the beach.”

What to Expect at Sandbar

We’ve got you covered from morning to evening at Sandbar.

We’re a great place to start the day. Drop in from 7am for the best coffee and breakfast in Surfers Paradise. It’s a lovely time of day made even better by the view of the ocean and the sky that’s usually a brilliant blue! With that as the backdrop, enjoy our Big Breakfast and Eggs Benedict, our most popular breakfast dishes.

At 11am we transition into our lunch/dinner menu. Try our popular dishes Chicken Parmi, Rump Steak or Fish & Chips.

Try our Smashed Minted Peas and Kale with poached eggs, spiced toasted seed dukkha, grilled halloumi, beetroot hummus and herb oil on sourdough, or for a spicy morning hit try the Chilli Crab Scramble Eggs and Fairy Ricotta Hotcake with maple syrup.

We’re famous for our gourmet burgers, including The Royale with Cheese featuring wagyu, bone marrow emulsion, bacon, smoked cheddar, and our Poke bowls, which can include sashimi kingfish marinated in passionfruit, lime and chilli.

Sip, Relax, Repeat

Relax on our large outside area facing the beach as you sip one of our popular cocktails, maybe a Pineapple Spritz, an Espresso Martini, an Aperol Spritz, an Oceanside Margarita or a Mojito on a hot summer’s day.

Or try our beers and craft ales: we have the largest range of beers on the Gold Coast, with a strong craft beer presence.

Sandbar welcomes everyone of all ages.

We have a kids’ games room to keep the kids entertained while parents wine and dine. Bring your furry friend because they’re welcome too!

There is always something going on at Sandbar, whether it’s Happy Hour from Monday-Friday from 4pm-6pm, Trivia night on Wednesdays, Live Music on Saturday nights from 6pm or delicious cocktails available while you sit back and watch over the beach.

Front Row to Surfers Paradise Action

We are also the perfect venue when events are on in Surfers Paradise.

These include The Pacific Air Show, The GC500 – a Supercars Championship held in Surfers, Seafire – a free, family-friendly fireworks competition held primarily at Surfers Paradise foreshore – and The Gold Coast Marathon.

All these events take place directly in front of our venue and we enjoy welcoming both participants and visitors.

Our Community

Sandbar sits in the heart of Surfers Paradise.

Our connection to the beach is strong. We are right across from Lifeguard Tower 35. We are a valued member of our community and have a close relationship with the Surf Life Savers who watch over our beaches every day, keeping swimmers safe.

Our Story So Far

We are one of the longest-running beachside establishments in Surfers Paradise, a popular meeting spot for locals and visitors for more than 20 years. We’re proud to be an iconic staple in Surfers Paradise.

We started out as a family-run business famous for its buffet breakfasts and chilli crab scrambled eggs. Over the years, we’ve been run by several owners, including most recently Hallmark Hospitality, who oversaw a facelift, adding extra seating. The vibe and the venue have been pumping ever since. In June we were acquired by Australian Venue Co.
